Designing trust as a concrete product mechanic —— Using a Q&A feature to turn everyday sharing and answering into real, earned personal-brand credibility.

Starting in July/August 2020, I built Topreco together with a former colleague — a social app centered on trust. At the outset, the product didn't even have a brand yet; we started from positioning, SWOT analysis, business model, and marketing strategy. Because of the pandemic, this entire phase ran through online meetings — we didn't meet seed users in person until January/February 2021.
Together we shaped the brand strategy narrative, seed-user interviews, and copywriting; I independently owned brand identity design, product strategy, information architecture and UI, and the official website. Android launched at the end of March 2021, with iOS following at the end of June.

My colleague's original idea was simply a social app for sharing people, things, and moments — the direction was still loose, and there was no brand yet. The real difficulty was making users genuinely trust each other's shares and answers enough to treat the app as a place to build their personal brand — trust that a plain sharing mechanism alone couldn't deliver.

While we were discussing the product direction, I suggested adding a Q&A feature — letting users build credibility by answering questions, turning "sharing" into a concrete asset for growing a personal brand while also making the app stickier. That idea went on to shape the core of the design.
For brand identity, I proposed 9 directions within a week, then spent a month narrowing them down, combining a lowercase "t," a question mark, and a lightbulb shape representing sudden insight, rendered in geometric, rounded, modern-minimal lines with a blue-green gradient echoing screen-light aesthetics.
On the product side, information architecture began evolving in parallel while the business model was still being finalized; mockups were designed in batches and handed off via Zeplin to my colleague for development as soon as each was confirmed — the user personas and storylines used along the way were ones I wrote myself while designing the mockups.
Once development began, I kept reviewing completed demos and tracking issues, and worked with my partner on batched POC testing with friends alongside in-depth seed-user interviews to validate and refine the design.

Together, we turned this sharing concept into a fully realized brand identity, product strategy, iOS / Android app, and official website —— Android launched at the end of March 2021, with iOS following at the end of June.
Along the way, in-depth interviews with two seed users — an online English teacher and a sand-sculpture artist — plus batched POC testing with 10 friends, validated and refined the core product assumptions.
Independently driving brand identity, product strategy, mockups, and the RWD website, while proposing the Q&A mechanic as the core average as the core answer to building trust, turned an abstract concept into a product that actually shipped.
